Everything started
last summer when a high wind blow up, removed and broke up his regular patio
umbrella.
Our neighbor
then, went immediately and bought a new
one. Obviously the new model, bigger and red.
For some reason this new one didn’t work.
Something was broken, and it was an embarrassing at grandma and grandpa's annual visit, a lot of
explanations and subsequent wife's annoyance.
Then came the
discussions between husband and wife, a lot of shouting and recriminations, it seems caused for the poor man incapacity to deliver a sumptuous patio environment, to relax in the
summer from the daily routines.
We started to think this was the beginning of
the end of a marriage……
But , oh surprise!,
at the end of the summer, one day a contractor showed up to install a
canopy to cover, guess what: a Jacuzzi.
Very fancy. Not to large though.
But they installed
it wrong , very close to the house window. A
new trial was necessary, and after long
deliberations it was reinstalled, with its long dark curtains,
covering all perimeter. It seems they didn’t have much interest in being spied by the neighbors.
I didn't like the curtains.
At this moment the
first cold nights had already arrived,
but the night Jacuzzi sessions started, to my dismay as they kick off at around 11 PM. Music, beer, laughing, chatting, all covered by the curtains.
But there were only
a few as the autumn cold was implacable. Thanks God!
Winter arrived and
with it another set of problems to my
now friend, friend because now I share his troubles at a distance.
Maybe he, after a deep manual review,
learned that the roof can not withstand a lot of snow, so every time
there a was a snowfall he put all his
winter gear and went out to remove the snow on the little roof with a long handled brush.
I can sense the
feeling of anxiety, of thinking that the
canopy can collapse, whipping out all
his efforts.
Not being this
enough, at the end of the winter, nature
started with sustained strong winds for
long periods of time.
He started to get scared thinking that his
little dome was going to start to fly away and with it his planned happiness
for the summer.
So he laboriously
went and secured the 4 posts
with cables. You can image how his backyard will look now!
The winds passed and
the little roof is there , waiting and waiting . Happy that survived and ready
to deliver.
Hope there will be
not too many nights, not too laud and for not too long, but welcomed if this
makes the neighbor happy enough.
For sure there will
be more incidents, we will see. Now is the time to wait for
new developments and measure how much happiness a humble Jacuzzi can bring to my tenacious
neighbor
